After you read this blog you will be able to write copy that will massively outperform your competitors' marketing. Why?...
Because they either used AI to write their copy or they came up with something boring & cliche.
My goal is to teach you how to write a copy that sells, and you will do that by coming up with something that is not boring and a copy that will make people take action after they consume your marketing…
After you read this you will be able to spot a copy that is hilarious.
Before I tell you how to write a copy that sells, you need to understand what I mean by a bad copy…
As I said, being boring it’s a marketing sin and “waffling” it’s the best way to be boring.
You might not know the term but once I show you an example you’ll start seeing it everywhere.
We want to make people read our copy in the shortest time possible and we want our copy to be as effective as possible - in other words, make them do the action step of the ad. (visit your website, call you, book an appointment…)
Here’s a good example of a copy that sells…
“If your back hurts and you can’t do your desk job properly, then contact us and let’s fix your back pain now…” - this is a short and on point sentence. NO WAFFLING.
What’s waffling…
“Hey, I hope this ad finds you well. We help our community by taking care of their health...” - get to the point!!! What are you talking about? No one cares about your community.
And this is a real ad that we analyzed, (I would share the link of the ad but the ad is turned off.) they invested thousands of dollars in a boring ad, and many businesses do this.
I don’t want you to waffle, but how can you avoid waffling?...
Being simple and getting on the point is the best way to make people take action on your copy… - in other words, don’t bull sh*t people.
No one cares about your community.
But there is a way to see if your marketing copy is boring or not…
There is a test called the “BAR TEST” . It's invented by the best marketers in the world.
Imagine this, you have back pain, you go to a bar, you sit there and you grab a drink.
Another man sits next to you, and you start a small talk.
You get to know the person and then you mention your back pain.
And he is a chiropractor and he can solve your problem.
Would he say to you: Hey man hope this finds you well but look, we help our community in Ohio by taking care of their health…”
If he said this, he is probably an alien.
If he was a human he would ask you some questions about the back pain and then he would say:
“Look man, I've been a chiropractor for more than 20 years. If your back hurts and you can’t do your desk job properly, then you can come to our office and I guarantee that we will fix your back pain”.
I don’t know why but when people write copy, they waffle. They try to sound professional, yes you should look like a professional but you shouldn’t bullsh*t people as I said.
Coming up with a simple on point copy is the goal.
So put your copy through this test or make a copy based on what you would say to your ideal client in a bar.
I help tour guides attract more clients, and as you can see the first headline on my website is…
“Are you struggling to fill your tours?” - it’s a perfect headline, because it’s short and simple.
"Simplicity sells, but complexity repels."
There are a lot of marketing agencies out there that waffle.
Let’s say that you own a marketing agency.
Would you say this to your ideal clients?...
What's “traditional SEO” ?
Many marketing agencies use AI and many business owners manage their marketing assets and they come up with a copy with AI too, and this is the worst thing you can use to write your copy, yes it gives you copy but the copy will be a word salat that’s completely not effective, because AI waffles.
